News & Updates

DSC00980Key to the Post 2015 agenda is the means of financing these ambitious plans and goals. This financing mechanism must be sustainable and must be adequate to support the implementation of these goals at all levels.

The FfD3 is a follow-up to the Monterrey and Doha events, and it was particularly critical in light of the post 2015 agenda.

The 3rd FfD was held in Addis Ababa between 13 – 16th of July in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia (http://www.un.org/esa/ffd/ffd3/). Having keenly followed and participated in the Post 2015 agenda since 2012, Alliance for Development also took part in this critical event.

The event brought all stakeholders and right holders together including UN member states and CSOs across the globe (http://csoforffd.wordpress.com/).

Included in the event were many thought-provoking and insightful side events.

Alliance for Development (AFD) participated actively in all the main event and the side-events.

AFD was represented at the event by its Executive Director, Laud K. Addo.

Suhum Government Hospital deserves commendation

goal5Having not recorded any maternal mortality in its facilities for the whole 12months period of 2014, the Suhum Government Hospital deserves commendation and approval.

This performance is more laudable in view of the projection by Maternal Mortality Estimation on Inter-Agency Group (MMEIG) that Ghana will miss the 2015 Maternal Mortality Ratio (MMR). Whiles maternal mortality rate has reduced from 216 per 100,000 live births in 1990 to 164 per 100,000 live births in 2010, the target of 54 per 100,000 in 2015 is a daunting challenge the nation is dealing with.

The hospital in working assiduously and ensuring that they achieve zero maternal death has definitely contributed to the strides to achieve reduce maternal mortality.

Whiles commending them, they must work hard to maintain this laudable achievement and to leverage their experiences to support and assist other health care facilities within their locality.
